Countryside sauna Re Starta zona offers a wonderful
opportunity to spend time in the traditionally Latvian spirit - enjoying the
fundamentality and peacefulness of the ancient countrystead merging with beautiful
nature both outside the sauna and in it, because a countryside sauna for
Latvians is not imaginable segregate from nature. The name of the place of
location of our sauna house is Rideļu Lodes. The dwelling house was built in the
1850s and we - the owners of it still inhabit the house today. The sauna house
was once one of the auxiliary buildings, and the time of its’ construction
also dates back to the 1850s. We strive to keep the environment as similar as
possible to the past and, believe us, "it catches!" and is very appropriate
for maintaining the Latvian sauna traditions.
In the Classic
sauna ritual the currently available as well as currently inaccessible
(pre-dried or frozen) natural materials in the form of whisks, teas,
infusions, scrubs, and herbal rugs are used. The classically organized ritual
in our sauna consists of several important parts that we would like to
introduce to you:
-welcoming of
the sauna lover, getting to know each other, talking and agreeing on a
saunaday goal that will be achieved today;
- enjoying a warming
cup of tea, warming your feet in a foot bath that has various pleasant
additives besides warm water - cones, acorns or chestnuts for massage,
fragrant petals or essential oils,
- the first
warm-up in the sauna room where we have dedicated a special saunabed,
slightly higher than the one where the sauna course is carried out on. It is
good to start warming up in a very mild climate (the temperature on the bed
surface is just over 40 degrees and humidity around 40%) and lying down so
that all heat receptors - feet, hands, ears and nose - are at the same level
and the sauna lover feels comfortable. Of course the thermometer which is
placed in the usual place near the ceiling of the sauna room, shows a much
higher temperature - about 70 degrees. This is a very important procedure
because it involves a deep cleansing of the body from the slags and after
first warming it is imperative to wash off the sweat in a warm shower,
otherwise the body will gradually suck it back,
- the rest is
followed by the next procedure - body scrub with a herbal scrub. A scrub can
contain a single plant, just as it can consist of a dozen or more different
plants, and salt or soda is often added to scrubs to make it more abrasive
and easier to cleanse the body. After scrubbing, the sauna master rinses your
body with warm water to wash away everything that is unnecessary,
- the rest is
followed by the culmination of the sauna ritual- the spanking. During the
spanking, the sauna master uses several, usually at least 3 different,
whisks (the total number of whisks may exceed 10) which practiced in
various ways give the sauna lover a massage, often leading to a meditative
state when the mind is completely shut down – and this is very, very important
for a profound recovery of the body - RESTART. In addition to massage, the
herbs used in the sauna room also provide a healthy aromatherapy experience.
The temperature in the sauna room gradually increases to reach the appropriate
amount for the current sauna lover, depending on the goal of the sauna ritual
and the heat resistance of the sauna lover, which is determined by the sauna
master at the beginning of the course. The spanking is followed by a very
healthy contrast procedure in which the body's cells shrink and squeeze out
any excess. After such a load it is necessary to relax thoroughly, so the
sauna lover is wraped in warm blankets and lied down for relaxation,
- last of the
procedures - skin nutrition. Very often pure honey is used for these purposes
(the bees have worked very well so the honey has a very high concentration of
the many valuable substances offered by Latvian nature), but other types of
masks are also possible. Once the mask is absorbed into the skin the sauna
lover can take the shower to rinse.
After enjoying light snacks and a
vitaminized tea and sharing the impressions of the experience with the sauna
master, the sauna ritual is over. It usually lasts about 3-4 hours for 1
person and 4-5 hours for a couple.
There are many
possible changes and additions to sauna ritual - this must be discussed and
agreed in advance. Sometimes there is a desire to enjoy the work of 2 sauna
masters at a time - i.e. 4-handed sauna course. Also this is possible in our sauna
house, besides in its classic way - when the course is carried out with both
sauna masters standing on the
opposite sides of the saunabed.
The service "Sauna
day for Friends" is intended as a wonderful adventure for people
visiting the countryside sauna and is more focused on people who are not yet so
familiar with sauna where you can enjoy the ritual provided by the sauna
master. During this service the sauna master will introduce the classical
procedures performed by him (see the description of the Classic sauna ritual),
involving the guests themselves thus making them gain new experience, skills
and understanding of the whole sauna processes and leading to possibly of
enjoying saunas magic on a regular basis. Many will be surprised to find out
that in the sauna there is no need for unbearable heat to start sweating - it
takes place in a very moderate and comfortable microclimate, which does not
cause any stress for the sauna lover.

The duration and
prices of these baths are negotiated separately.

light snacks, about 10 different herbal whisks, homemade natural plant
scrub, honey or any other body mask, essential oils
On request a
4-hand course by 2 masters is available.
For specific
materials and additional procedures – any extra costs will be agreed upon.
After the sauna
session we offer the possibility to enjoy the peace of the countryside and
spend the night on the 2nd floor of the sauna house instead of sitting by the
steering wheel to go home and making the pleasant fatigue a burden.

choose. If you do not want the recipient to know the amount of the gift, we
will create a special gift card for the chosen sauna ritual that does not contain
the amount, eg. "Birthday Ritual" or other appropriate text as
agreed.
